Rowell Camerata operates and performs with our Musical Director, David Beavan.

Musical Director

David Beavan was a Choral Scholar at Cambridge, going on to study at Trinity College of Music, during which time he was already singing professionally with many choirs and consorts, including the Deller Consort, the Consort of Music, Pro Cantione Antiqua and the Hilliard Ensemble. He became the bass voice of the Swingle Singers, performing and recording with the group throughout Europe, the USA, South America, Australia and the Far East. He has sung as a soloist throughout the UK and Europe. Operatic performances have included the Wexford Festival and the Royal Opera, Covent Garden.
He began to conduct whilst still at school, at Cambridge conducting the choir of the University Church, Great St Mary’s and in London the Choral Society of Westfield College, the Blackfriars Singers and Serenata Voices. He has worked with choirs in Europe and the USA. In Leicestershire he directed the Harborough Singers from 1985 to 2019.
